I spent quite a bit of yesterday on the road: an elderly relative who lives some distance away is in hospital and the ward gave us a urgent call, prompting an unscheduled journey. Several hings had to get "bumped", but this kind of need should always take priority imho.Perhaps I'm getting old, or maybe I'm just tired, but I found that it took more out of me than it might have. The upshot is that I haven't felt like doing much today, presenting me with an excuse to play around with my Pi4 and the SDF server.
The other day I bought a "Cardputer ADV" on a whim. If you haven't seen one, it's a very tiny device with a really small screen and keyboard. There are lots of things it might do, but my idea is to use it as a terminal on the go, to look at my daily text files, send short emails with mutt and maybe the occasional phlog post. (I know. I can do that on my phone with termux. I want to try something different!) But before I can do that, I have to be sure that my Pi4 and SDF talk nicely with one another, and I understand what happens
when I mess up and create conflicts between the 2 machines.
I've spent a happy hour or so playing with git, pulling and pushing from one machine to the other, creating different kinds of conflict on purpose and then trying to resolve them. There are times when I think I almost understand git, but the feeling rarely lasts long.
However, I do feel like I made a little progress today. Perhaps my ultra-portable phlogging machine isn't just a pipe dream.
